Toddle Monkey

I call him Toddle Monkey on this here blog. Soon he'll move up to 'Six'.
But not yet~
even despite trying so hard to be big like his older brothers and sister.
He keeps reminding me that he'll be 'fo-wah' in June.
He begs me to let him play his big brothers' computer games, because for heaven's sake, he's not little. "He's firty inches tall!!"
"Not tall enough," I say.
Then he gives me this look....
And then I turn on the computer game for him.
But only for a minute..
or two...
Don't judge me for my weakness. You'd crack too.

Especially if he asks you for just a "teeeeny tiny bit of that delicious, delicious bahloo alligator". (Gatorade)
I don't dare correct him. And I've threatened asked his brothers and sister not to as well. Toddlerhood passes so quickly. I just want to hold on to these little things for a few more moments. Heck, he only said "hocks and hoozies" for a week before moving onto the grown up version "socks and shoes". He didn't graduate up to "socks and shoezies", nope-- he just blew right past that to 'socks and shoes'. Stinker! Doesn't he know that I have five others that say socks and shoes??!!??

Of course he's the only one I've ever had to call Apple Jacks 'Michael Jacksons'.
And, I don't quite know what to make of that....

Royal Cocoa

Princess: Momma, may I please have some hot cocoa?

Me: Sure, hon.

Princess: Okay, then.. I'll take one cup of hot cocoa...

with a splash of milk,

ONE ice cube,

a smidge of whipped caareeeeme,

and a few marshmallows--- just a few please.

After a few sips, she noticed a bit of cinnamon I sprinkled on top.

"Ooooh, what's this Momma? Is this your secret ingredient? Because whatever it is, it makes this the BEST cup of cocoa I've eeeeevvvveeeeeerrrrrr had. Simply delicious! You should share this recipe."

So I'm sharing.

Don't you feel special now?

At the very least you should feel royal.

'Cause she sure did :)

Peek-a-what?

This morning playing with the Peanut,
Six: "Peek-a-POOH!" "Peeek-ah-pooh!! PEEK-A-POOOOOH!"

Four: "It's not peek-a-pooh. That would stink. It's peek-a-chu! Pikachu!"

Me: "Actually, it's neither. It's really peek-a-boo!"

(silence------)

Six: "Peek-a-POOOOHHHHH!!! hmm... That's not too stinky."

Candlemas/Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord

From Festivals Family and Food:
"Candlemas Day takes its name form the blessing of candles on this day for use in church throughout the coming year. It is the feast of the presentation of Christ in the Temple when Simeon hailed him as 'A light to lighten the Gentiles'. Christians used to light candles for Baby Jesus and Mother Mary.."

'If Candlemas Day be fair and bright
Winter will take another flight
If Candlemas Day be cloud and rain
Winter is gone and will not come again.'

More on this feast day here and here.

And craft ideas for today found here.

Sounds like we're having dinner by candlelight tonight. :)

May the light of Christ always shine upon you and yours,

A new favorite

Browsing blogs the other day and came across this one...
Catholic Icing

Oh Miss Lacy, where have you been all my homeschooling craft-less life?
The thing that I luuurrrve about this blog is that the ideas are up waaaay ahead of time. I need that.

Really. bad. (or is it Really. badly. ??-- looks like I could use a little grammar help as well..)

Between Lacy, Charlotte and a few others, my winter homeschooling is now looking like it's gonna be a whole lot more fun. Enjoy everyone!!
