October's Party
by: George Cooper
October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came—
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.

Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything. -Plato

This past weekend, the 'bigs' were away with Daddy, and I got to spend time with you 'littles', some of whom aren't so little anymore. We had a great time! Lots of singing, dancing, belly laughs and popcorn. I think I am a lot more mellow with you four littles than I was with your older brothers when they were your age-- okay....actually, I know I am. Such a great perspective to have now and I find that I am continuously blessed by all you beautiful souls the Lord has blessed us with.
But do you think you little people could just grow up a little slower?? Puuleeeeeze??

You only have a few toys, and you rotate through them faithfully; loving and playing with them until they are near worn out. Most new things don't interest you much, but occasionally you'll add one to the mix. Recently, your older brother's Playmobile 'fife-fur' truck made the cut and has quickly become one of your favorites. You bring it along every where you go and even sleep with it, which can sometimes be a biiit uncomfortable for the one that shares a bed with you.
Here's hoping this will be the largest toy that joins your repertoire..

A rainy Sunday evening makes it a perfect time to read a book with Daddy.
Over, and over, and over again...

You sit in front of this window every. single. day.
You take out all the books one at a time, looking over them carefully. Then you settle on one. You turn the pages carefully. Sometimes you count, sometimes you pick out the letters in each word and say them out loud, sometimes you just sit quietly and take it all in.
Today you chose "George".
You like that he is a monkey and has a ball.
I like that you like George.... and especially books.

Oh happy day!
I updated a few of my 20x20's in our hall (pls forgive the glare). It was about time. Some of the photos were over three years old. eep! I still need to update three more, but I'm enjoying this project in it's semi-finished state.

Thursday evenings 'round these parts means Civil Air Patrol.
My boys are ATE up!
But it's a good thing.
In a day and age when so many folks don't stand, let alone place their hand over their heart as our nation's flag passes by, it does my heart good that these boys pause their drill practice to salute our precious flag when Giant Voice plays the National Anthem.
