The New ‘Normal'

I’ve been a bit scarce around the bogosphere lately.   Lots of things happening here on the ol’ homestead.  Back in January we found out that dh was to be deployed for a year.  It happens to just about everyone in their career at least once.   So many military families these days across all branches are without their mommies and daddies for long(er) periods of time.  Now is our time.  Dh has been gone a month, and we’re slowly finding our new normal.

We had quite the action packed Spring.  Confirmation, First Holy Communion, Change of Command, camping, lots of company and all that goes into preparing for a long deployment.  We don’t seem to be slowing the pace, which is just fine for us, since it makes time seem to pass by faster...

Here are some highlights from the past few months:
Squadron farewell:

complete with awesome crawfish boil

Lots of family:

Annual family party:

(it’s obvious I have my work cut out for me with this one... just look at that pitiful swing..)
Camping...
complete with s’mores:

a happy baby

and brothers pondering life’s greatest mysteries
(or what kind of cause they can stir by taking a little dip)

First Holy Communion:

Armed Forces Kids Run:

Trip to the circus:
(if I were a better editor, I could make those ladders disappear, but.. I’m not)

everyone’s favorite part at the circus???
$10 cotton candy? nope
tigers? uh uh
elephants? nooo
hats? nah..
It was....
the SEVEN motorcycles in the ball of steel:

Neighborhood block party:

and last, but not least,
Memorial Day activities..

So there you you have it, a quick (or not so much) run down.  I plan to post more often.  I have added incentive now that hubs is away.  He likes checking in on the family via the blog.. so this one’s for you honey!
